Majnun’s Tribe and His Marriage to Layla

Question

It is commonly said that Majnun wandered about, consumed with love for Layla. Which tribe did he belong to? People say that on the Day of Resurrection (hashr) the two of them will be married — how correct is this?

Answer

He was from [the tribe of] Banu ‘Udhra. As for the marriage of Layla and Majnun on the Day of Resurrection, ask those who assert this with certainty for their proof, and then, if possible, inform us as well.
