The Beginning of the Hijri and Christian Eras

Question

Please explain the details of the hijri era and the era of ‘Isa (the Christian era).

Answer

The hijri era is counted from the year of the noble Prophet’s ﷺ migration (hijra), while the era of ‘Isa is counted from the birth of Hazrat ‘Isa ﵇. Some have written that, according to the mistaken belief of the Christians (may Allah protect us from that), this era began at the time when Hazrat ‘Isa ﵇ was supposedly crucified.
