The Footprint of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
Question
In the district of Hooghly, in the locality of Ashnahri (Bhan), there is a shrine called “Qadam-e Rasul” (“Footprint of the Messenger”), about two hundred years old. In it there is a stone with an imprinted footprint, which people call an image of the blessed footprint of the noble Messenger ﷺ; people venerate it and kiss it. It is said that there were other items too — for example, the Prophet's ﷺ cloak, prayer-beads, and a blessed handkerchief — but these items have now been lost.
Answer
That the blessed footprint of the noble Prophet ﷺ left an imprint on some stone through his placing his blessed foot upon it — as happened with the imprint of the blessed footprint of Hazrat Ibrahim ﵇ — is not established by any sound narration.
