Why No Caliph Was Present at the Passing of the Prophet ﷺ

Question

At the moment of the passing of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, none of the four rightly-guided caliphs was present, and they came only after his passing — is this correct? If this is indeed so, where were these noble personages at that time?

Answer

Each of them had his own separate house; each was in his own place; no one had any idea that his passing would occur that very day.
