Demanding talaq because the bride’s send-off was delayed on account of the husband’s illness

Question

Question: Zayd’s nikah took place about three years ago, and it was agreed that the bride’s send-off to her husband’s home would take place later. At the time of the nikah Zayd was studying; living away from home, Zayd completed his studies over about a year and a half. Before Zayd’s parents could fix the date of the bride’s send-off with Zayd’s in-laws, Zayd, after completing his studies, suddenly fell ill and remained ill for about six months; after being well for a few days, Zayd fell ill again.

Answer

In these circumstances talaq should not be demanded; rather, the bride should be sent off to her husband’s home. It is not unlikely that through the blessing of this send-off Allah Most High will grant him good health and strength.
