Regarding the wife as free because the jewellery was taken off and returned

Question

Muhammad Yusuf fell out with his relatives. After a period of two years, in a state of displeasure, he had the jewellery that had been given to the girl from the bridegroom’s side taken off his wife’s body and began handing it to his father-in-law, saying: “اپنا زیور سنبھالو میرا تمہارا کوئی رشتہ نہیں، کب ڈھول باجا ہوا اور کب گیت گال ہوئی” (“Take charge of your jewellery; there is no relationship between me and you; when was there drumming and music, and when was there singing?”).

Answer

If the matter is as described, then according to the Shari‘a the said nikah has not ended by Muhammad Yusuf’s doing and saying this; rather, it remains in force. What Muhammad Yusuf said and did stems from lack of practice and ignorance. Music is itself prohibited; what effect can its absence have on the nikah?
