Uttering the Words of Talaq So That They Are Not Heard
Question
If someone pronounces talaq on his wife in such a way that the words of talaq are not audible to anyone else and only his tongue moves, will talaq take effect or not?
Answer
If the word talaq was said with the tongue in such a way that it could not be heard, and only the tongue moved, then no talaq took effect thereby, as stated in al-Tahtawi (p. 119).
