Talaq without naming the wife and without pointing
Question
Zayd beat his wife, on account of which a quarrel arose between Zayd and his mother-in-law. Zayd wrote to his mother-in-law: “Do you want to get her talaq?” The mother-in-law answered in the negative. Then, during the quarrel with his mother-in-law, some time after the above words, Zayd, addressing his mother-in-law, said: “Talaq, talaq, talaq.
Answer
It was his own wife whom he beat; because of that the quarrel with the mother-in-law arose; it was about her talaq that he asked the mother-in-law, to which the mother-in-law answered in the negative; and then in that same sitting he said three times, “Talaq, talaq, talaq” — so what doubt remains about talaq having taken effect?
