Should One Leave a Wife Who Does Not Practise?

Question

If a wife does not perform prayer despite insistence and repeated demands, is it necessary to leave her?

Answer

If he has despaired of her reform, paying the mahr after divorce will not be difficult for him, and there is no fear that he himself will fall into sin, then giving her talaq is mustahabb; otherwise he should not divorce her and should keep trying to reform her.
