Is One with Frequent Nocturnal Emissions a Ma'dhur?
Question
Zayd suffers from an illness of severe nocturnal emissions (ihtilam): he has an emission almost every day; physically he is weak and thin, and to make ghusl every day in the cold season is very hard for him. If he does not make ghusl and prays, he feels a natural aversion. In such a case, will the ruling of a ma'dhur according to the Shari'a apply or not?
Answer
The gist of the issue in Ma la Budda Minhu is this: a person is ill — for example, he has diarrhoea, or he has some wound from which moisture flows constantly; he can neither purify his clothes himself nor make wudu, and he is bedridden — then he should pray in that very state.
