The Ruling on Petrol

Question

Zayd works as a watchmaker. Kerosene and petrol are used in cleaning the parts; while cleaning, splashes from the brush get onto the clothes, and prayers are performed in this state. So is this oil pure or not? If prayer is not valid with it, then what will the method of purification be?

Kerosene and petrol are not impure; the garment will not become impure by their getting onto it. If, however, they get on in large quantity and a bad smell arises, then in such a case one should set aside another garment for prayer, wearing which one performs the prayer, or set aside a garment for watchmaking, wearing which one does the watchmaking — so that the bad smell…
