Scalding a Chicken in Water after Slaughter before Slitting Its Belly

Question

If a chicken or any other animal or bird is scalded in boiling water before its belly is slit open, or its down is singed off with fire, what is the ruling on eating that chicken or that bird?

Answer

In the first case eating it is not permissible; in the second case it is permissible.
