After Intercourse with One's Wife During Hayd, Are Two Ghusls Required or Is One Enough?
Question
(1) When my monthly period came, three or four days passed, but I had not yet been able to make ghusl, when my husband came and, despite [my] forbidding him, would not listen and fulfilled his desire. Will I now have to make two ghusls: one for the week's impurity and the other for my husband's coming?
Answer
1. Because of these two matters two ghusls will not become obligatory; rather, a single ghusl is sufficient. As much water as is needed for one ghusl — just that is sufficient. Istinja' with eleven clods is also sufficient. The method of ghusl is written in Bihishti Zewar (“Heavenly Ornaments”) — let ghusl be done in accordance with it. 2.
