Up to Where the Hands Should Be Washed after Istinja

Question

Up to where is it sunna to wash the hands after performing istinja? Also, is the ruling for the minor and the major istinja the same, or different? It is well known that the Prophet ﷺ used to clean his hands with earth after [using] the toilet; was this his habit after urinating as well, or did he suffice with water alone?

Answer

After performing istinja, whether minor or major, the hands should be washed up to the wrists.
