The Depth of a Pool
Question
How necessary is it for the pools that are usually found in mosques to be deep? For example, the length and width are at least ten by ten cubits, but how deep should it be? For example, a pool is two or three gaz (a unit of length, about a yard, ≈ 0.9 m) deep; by chance water stopped flowing into it, and the water, decreasing, has come down to only one foot or less. Is wudu with the water of this pool valid? How deep should a pool be?
Answer
A depth of five fingers is also sufficient (as in Radd al-Muhtar, vol. 1, p. 132).
