A sparrow’s neck was blown off by a gun and it was then slaughtered
Question
Question: A bullet struck a sparrow in such a way that the neck itself was blown off, and not a trace of the head remained. It was slaughtered in the region of the neck, and some blood came out of it. Is this slaughter valid according to the Shari‘a or not?
Answer
If that part of the neck remained in which the vessels lie, and it was then slaughtered, the slaughter is valid, even though the head did not remain. If these vessels did not remain, that is, not even that part of the neck remained in which these vessels lie, then the slaughter is not valid.
