Is the takbir wajib for everyone taking part in the sacrifice?

In al-Jawhara al-Nayyira and Ma la budda minhu, Qadi Thana’ullah Panipati ﵀ writes that at the time of the sacrifice it is wajib for all the helpers who take part in it to say the takbir simultaneously; if even one of them omits it — in holding the animal — the sacrifice will become haram. Is this the view on which fatwa is given (mufta bihi), and what is the ruling if this was done?

Answer

The ruling is this: saying “bismillah” is wajib for the slaughterer, and likewise it is wajib for the slaughterer’s helper; and the slaughterer’s helper in the true sense is the one who helps in drawing the knife.
