Swallowing Water While Bathing in a River

Question

A person who was keeping the Ramadan fast went to a river to bathe (perform ghusl). A man took hold of him and led him into the river to teach him to swim, and while going under (drowning) in the river he swallowed water. Has his fast been broken?
