Voluntary Prayer after True Dawn Is Makruh
Question
After the ablution made at the time of true dawn for the Fajr prayer, may one pray two rak‘as of tahiyyat al-wudu’ (the prayer greeting the ablution) and tahiyyat al-masjid (the prayer greeting the mosque) before the sunna of Fajr, or not? If one may, which is better — to pray them or not to pray them?
Answer
At that time one should pray the sunna of Fajr; through it the reward of tahiyyat al-masjid and tahiyyat al-wudu’ will also be obtained. Praying tahiyyat al-wudu’, tahiyyat al-masjid or any other voluntary prayer separately at that time is makruh.
