When to make up a forgotten prostration

Question

If a person is praying and in the first rak‘a mistakenly made only one prostration (sajda), and remembers it in the second rak‘a, what is the ruling?

Answer

He should perform the prostration as soon as he remembers. If he remembers after the prostration of the second rak‘a, he should perform it then; otherwise, if he remembers during the qiyam, sitting and the like, he should perform it then and repeat the pillar (rukn)
