Ruling on fidya for prayers missed during the terminal illness
Question
If someone is afflicted with a terminal illness (marad al-mawt) and, a few days before death, loses consciousness and awareness, is it necessary to pay fidya for the prayers that were missed (became qada’) in this state of unconsciousness or not?
Answer
If the unconsciousness lasted more than twenty-four (24) hours — up to the time of six prayers — then fidya for these prayers is not necessary.
