The number of rak‘as of awwabin

Question

Are the six rak‘as of awwabin in addition to the two [rak‘as of] nafl of maghrib, or including them? If they include the nafl of maghrib, then does awwabin have four rak‘as?

Answer

In one narration in “Maraqi al-Falah” four [rak‘as of] nafl are also mentioned; from this point of view, the two combined will make six. In the commonly known narration they are six, and the two [rak‘as of] emphasized sunna are separate.
