Prayer recited with the connecting nun rule

Question

In the maghrib prayer the imam recited the first verse of Surah al-Ikhlas joined to the second verse with the connecting nun, that is, he made wasl (joining). After the prayer some people said among themselves: why did the imam recite like that today? Others said that the imam recited correctly, since he is a qari and a religious scholar. In short, the matter reached the deputy mutawalli.

Answer

The imam recited this in accordance with the rules of tajwid; this mas’ala is explicitly stated in the books of tajwid.
