Praying on a thoroughfare without a sutra

Question

If on a public thoroughfare a sutra cannot be arranged, should one let the prayer lapse into qada, or what course should one take?

Answer

Letting the prayer lapse into qada is not permissible. If there is no way to set up a sutra and no place apart from the thoroughfare — as sometimes happens on a platform — the prayer is still to be performed on time.
