Using a loudspeaker at the Darul Uloom
Question
Your esteemed opinion is requested regarding the use of a loudspeaker in the mosque of the Darul Uloom at the time of congregational prayer. Sometimes it happens that the sound of the takbir does not reach the upper part of the mosque; once or twice the worshippers on the upper floor even had to repeat the prayer. On Friday especially the gathering is larger. In this situation, may Hazrat Wala oblige us by informing us of his esteemed opinion. The questioner: Hazrat Rector of Darul Uloom Deoband.
Answer
The best course is that the congregational prayer be performed in the simple way, according to the sunna (without a loudspeaker). If the gathering is large and the imam’s voice at the transitions cannot reach everyone, mukabbirs should be arranged, and a place and row fixed for them, so that the voice reaches the upper part of the mosque as well.
