The Imamate of One Who Slaughtered Goats for Hindus
Question
Hindu unbelievers came to Zayd’s house and said, “Come, sir, slaughter our two goats for us.” This Muslim went with them to the river without any objection. Before slaughtering, this Muslim asked those men (the unbelievers) for whom they were slaughtering the goats. They said, “We intend to make a votive offering to the Khwaja.” Along with the goats, these Hindus also had porridge for the offering, which the Muslims too saw with their own eyes.
Answer
If this Muslim told these unbelievers, “Slaughter these goats in the name of God and convey the reward to the Khwaja,” then there is no harm in his having slaughtered them, and this has brought no defect into his imamate. And since no other person was present there, and this Muslim says, “I said this,” why then is he not believed? What is the reason for rejecting [his word]?
