Imamate of One Who Asks a Non-Muslim for the Name of a Thief

Question

Is it permissible or not to pray behind those who go to some Muslim or non-Muslim to ask the name of a thief and the whereabouts of the stolen item, and who declare that they believe in all such things?

Answer

Such a belief and such an act are wrong and contrary to the Shari‘a. Until he repents of it, he must by no means be made imam.
