Repeating the prayer if a minor reaches puberty within its time

Question

Zayd reached puberty before true dawn. Is it necessary for him to pray ‘Isha’ or not? And if he had prayed ‘Isha’ before going to sleep, must he repeat the ‘Isha’ prayer or not? Please explain, and may you be rewarded.

Answer

In the case asked about, the ‘Isha’ prayer becomes fard upon Zayd. Therefore, if he had already prayed it before reaching puberty, he should repeat it, because the prayer he performed before puberty was nafl; and if he had not prayed it, he should perform this fard after reaching puberty. If he woke up after the time had passed, making it up (qada’)
