Doubts about the qibla direction of a new mosque
Question
Hajji 'Abd al-Rashid, master builder 'Abd al-'Aziz, Hajji Rafiq Ahmad, master (teacher) Shahid Husayn [and] munshi Akhtar Husayn consulted together in 1969 about building a mosque, formed a committee, bought 2000 square gaz (a gaz being a unit of length, about a yard, ≈ 0.9 m) of land and began building the mosque, which was completed within a short time. The mosque was named "Masjid Nabi Karim"; in 1970 it came into use, that is, prayer began to be performed in it.
Answer
Pious people of knowledge and experience inspected [the mosque], examined it with a compass, compared the direction with other mosques as well and, having indicated the direction of this mosque, declared prayer in it valid. So this should be accepted; there is no right to deny it without a proof from the Shari'a.
