Will Paradise and Hell Also Perish?

Question

Question: From the verse [ar]كُلُّ شَىْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُۥ[/ar] (“Everything will perish except His Face”, Surah al-Qasas, 28:88) it appears that Paradise, Hell, and the angels who bear the Throne will also be annihilated (fana). It is asked: in what manner will their annihilation take place, and for how long will the non-existence (‘adam) that befalls them last?

If the difficulty arises only from this verse, consult the tafsir of Ibn ‘Abbas ﵁ — Allah willing, it will be resolved. It states: [ar]كُلُّ شَيْءٍ، أَيْ كُلُّ عَمَلٍ لِغَيْرِ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ، هَالِكٌ مَرْدُودٌ، إِلَّا مَا ابْتُغِيَ بِهِ وَجْهُهُ، وَكُلُّ مُلْكٍ زَائِلٌ إِلَّا مُلْكَهُ، لَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَالْقَضَاءُ بَيْنَ خَلْقِهِ، وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ…
