Man Is Superior to the Jinn

Question

Question: [ar]وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ[/ar] (“I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me”, Surah al-Dhariyat, 51:56). Are the jinn superior to mankind, since in this verse the jinn are mentioned first?

Answer

Allah, Exalted, made man more noble (ashraf) and honoured (akram) than the jinn — as stated in “al-Tafsir al-Kabir”, “Sharh al-‘Aqa’id”, and other [books].
