Exegesis of ‘And Will Make Those Who Followed You Superior to Those Who Disbelieved’
Question
Question: In [the verse]: [ar]وَجَاعِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوكَ فَوْقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ[/ar] “And [I] will make those who followed you superior to those who disbelieved, until the Day of Resurrection” (Surah Al ‘Imran, 3:55) — almost all the exegetes have taken “those who followed you” to mean Christians and Muslims. But nowadays this Qur’anic reality seems to have lost its validity, and from the context “those who disbelieved” is specified as referring to Israel alone.
Answer
If some statement written by the exegetes is not understood by you, or does not correspond with your information, then to what extent is it correct to conclude from this that “nowadays the Qur’anic reality has lost its validity”? And consider to what degree a believer’s faith is wounded by such words.
