The Drum during the Wedding Procession
Question
In our village, playing the drum at weddings and similar ceremonies has been declared forbidden, and all the elders of the village are against playing the drum. But a certain man’s brother was getting married; on the day of the feast this man did not play the drum, but when the wedding procession set out to bring the bride, the master of the house started the drumming, dancing and the like, and kept it going until the bride was brought back.
Answer
The one who put on the drumming, dancing and the like has committed a sin: he has broken both the law of the biradari (clan community) and the law of the Shari‘a; and whoever joined him has also become a helper in sin.
