There Is No Ill Omen in Any Day or Date
Question
Question: (1) Please inform us of the Shar‘i ruling on this: is it good or bad to regard a day or a date as ill-omened? And did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ travel mostly on Thursday and Saturday? (2) A religious scholar announced that one should not hold a wedding on the 18th, because holding a wedding on the 18th ruins the life of the young man and the girl. Is there any basis for this in the Shari‘a? (3)
Answer
(1) Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Thani ﵀ wrote that in this Umma there is no ill omen in any day (date and so on); however, in some days and some dates there is more good and blessing (baraka). In travelling on Thursday and Saturday there is good and blessing. (2) This has no basis in the Shari‘a. (3) It can. There is no prohibition of it in the Shari‘a.
