Not Marrying Within One’s Own Clan

Question

Question: The people of a certain family hold the belief that if they arrange matches between their boys and girls among themselves, it does not turn out well; and this practice has been going on from before, because of which serious difficulties have to be faced. Sometimes girls from outside are not found for the boys of their own family.

Answer

These superstitions are contrary to the teachings of Islam; abandoning them is wajib. Hazrat the noble Prophet ﷺ married his daughter Hazrat Fatima ﵂ within his own family, and the practice of the entire Muslim Umma has continued in the same way.
