The right to reclaim items given to the husband upon divorce

Question

(1) My marriage contract ('aqd) was concluded with Mu'in al-Din. For six months things were pleasant; after that my husband began to treat me harshly, and in the end matters reached the point that my said husband sent a letter of divorce in my name three times by registered post. After the divorce I stayed with my parents. The community council summoned my husband and decided that the mahr amount and the dowry goods be returned to me from my husband, but it made no decision on the other matters.

Answer

(1) It can no longer be demanded. (2) There is no right to take that back. (3) There is no right to take that back either. (4) Had the 'idda been spent in the husband's house, the husband himself would have borne these expenses; now it cannot be demanded. (5)
