Zina with the Son’s Wife

Question

Zayd and Bakr are father and son: Zayd is the father and Bakr the son. Zayd committed an unlawful act, that is, zina, with the wife of his son Bakr. There are no witnesses; only that woman admits: “He committed zina with me,” and from the mutual relations of Zayd and Bakr it also appears that this certainly happened. So is that woman now permissible for Bakr or not, given that his father committed zina with his wife? Has his nikah been broken, or what will the situation be?

Answer

If the son believes his wife in this matter and considers his father a liar, then according to the Shari‘a his wife has become haram for the son; it is wajib upon him to leave her and say: “I have left you,” or to give talaq.
