Nikah with One’s Stepmother

Question

Zayd wishes to marry (contract nikah with) his stepmother. Is this permissible or not?

Answer

The woman whom Zayd’s father married is his stepmother; Zayd’s nikah with her is not permissible in any way — it is utterly haram.
