Nikah in the Form of a Puzzle
Question
The stepmother of a man named Zayd lives with her sons and daughters in a separate house, and their relations with the family of a man named Bakr were cordial. Bakr’s son, through Zayd, was on friendly terms with his stepbrother and for some time had also tutored him, on account of which he came and went frequently, and for the same reason hijab was not observed between the two households either.
Answer
By this forgery no nikah has been concluded according to the Shari‘a. For a nikah, offer and acceptance (ijab and qabul) before witnesses are necessary, whereas here no witness was present when the writing was written and signed.
