The Nikah of a Mute Person

Question

The parents of a minor girl married her to a mute man, and the mute man merely nodded his head as a sign (of acceptance). The question is: is the sign of the mute sufficient for accepting the nikah or not?

Answer

If the mute person accepts by a sign, the nikah is valid.
