The Sunna Method of Nikah
Question
What is the method of a Shari‘a-compliant wedding? Let it be stated briefly so that it may be put into practice.
Answer
When there is an intention to marry, then, without making arrangements for any special wedding procession, gifts sent from the groom’s side to the bride and the like, let the offer and acceptance (ijab and qabul) be conducted among a few people; if there are means, let dried dates be distributed. Let the bride be sent to the groom’s house.
