Idol worship has ended the nikah
Question
Question: I was married in a village. My husband makes prostrations to “Mata” (the Hindu mother goddess) and worships her, although he is a Muslim. The question is: after performing puja (Hindu ritual worship), did he remain a Muslim or not, and did my nikah remain intact or not? He also forces me to perform puja together with him. What is the ruling for me now?
Answer
If the husband worshipped an idol in the way the Hindus do, then by this both the nikah was broken and his faith (iman) was lost. Until he renews his faith and renews the nikah, stay apart from him, and on no account obey him in this matter.
