A Minor Girl Unknowingly Married to a Shia Who Publicly Reviles the Companions
Question
Question: In the early period of the Sarda Bill (the law restricting child marriage), a man married off (nikah) his minor daughter to the minor son of another man. But it later became known that this other man is a Shia by religion and belongs to the sect of Shias who practise tabarra, the public reviling of the Companions.
Answer
Regarding the takfir (declaring to be unbelievers) of the sect of Shias who publicly revile the Companions, there are explicit statements of most of the ‘ulama, but some have also denied it. Therefore, in the case asked about, the wife should bring a suit before a Muslim court that this man does not fulfil her rights.
