Is the Flag of Every Party an Islamic Flag?

Question: Nowadays, at the time of elections, various parties use flags of different colours as their party emblem. Every party claims that its flag is Islamic. Kindly explain, respected Hazrat, which flag is Islamic according to the hadith. If different kinds are described in the hadiths, then, setting out the details of these kinds, please write which colour of flag is given preference. Also, which flag did the noble Companions ﵃ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ use? Please explain in detail and with evidence.

Answer

The banner of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was for raising Islam high and defeating kufr. Is this also the aim in your elections? Do all these parties oppose one another in the same way as Islam and kufr opposed each other, so that each declares its own flag the Islamic flag and the flag of the other the flag of kufr? We seek refuge in Allah!
