Destroying thorny plants in a graveyard by burning

Question

Here in the graveyard a great many thorny plants have grown, because of which it is difficult, indeed impossible, to walk in the graveyard without wearing shoes. Now the question is: (a) May one walk in the graveyard wearing shoes? Is there any disapproval (karaha) in this? (b) The thorny plants cannot be destroyed except by burning. May these plants then be destroyed by lighting a fire in the graveyard? (c) What is the ruling on reciting the Noble Qur’an aloud over the deceased and making supplication (du‘a)

Answer

(a) In this situation there is no disapproval (karaha). (b) When attaining the principal purpose for which the graveyard exists (burial) has become difficult because of these thorny plants, and these thorns cannot be removed without burning, then they should be destroyed by burning. (c)
