Ongoing Charity (Sadaqa Jariya) for the Deceased
Question
The door of the mosque in our village has become decrepit; making [a new one] will cost approximately four hundred rupees. If I have this door built as an ongoing charity (sadaqa jariya) in the name of my respected father, will it become a sadaqa jariya in my father’s name? If it will, that is good; otherwise, please point me to some deed by doing which a sadaqa jariya will be established in the name of the late respected [father].
Answer
Having the mosque door made for isal al-thawab to your respected father, having a well dug where one is needed, buying religious books and making them waqf for madrasas, and the like — all of this is sadaqa jariya. May Allah the Pure convey the reward to him and grant him a lofty rank, and grant you an immense reward.
