Fixing a Day for Isal al-Thawab

Question

Is it permissible to fix a day for a deceased person — that on such-and-such a day reward will be conveyed to him — or not?

Answer

‘Allama Shami has written in Radd al-Muhtar, in the Book of Funerals (Kitab al-Jana’iz), that this kind of fixing is makruh.
