Isal al-Thawab for a Shi‘i

Question

What is the ruling on a Sunni wife making du‘a for forgiveness (maghfira) or isal al-thawab (gifting reward) for her Shi‘i husband? And what, in general, is the ruling on a Sunni making isal al-thawab for a Shi‘i?

Answer

If his beliefs are not kufr, as are [the beliefs] of some sects, then du‘a for forgiveness is proper; in this the husband and others are all equal.
