How Does Reward Reach the Dead?

Question

In what manner does isal al-thawab reach our dead? (The questioner is not asking about isal al-thawab itself.) Is there, for isal al-thawab to the dead, a department of post, telegraph, wireless and the like (a department for conveying news) in the Hereafter too?

Answer

For isal al-thawab, whatever deed is done here (prayer, fasting, charity, Hajj, Qur’an recitation, dhikr, service to people, etc.), a supplication is made: “O Allah, convey its reward to so-and-so” (“Shami”, p. 844, vol. 1).
