The position of the deceased in the grave

Question

What is the view of the scholars on the following issues? Kindly explain with proofs. A: [ar]إذا احتضر الرجل وجه إلى القبلة على شقه الأيمن اعتبارًا بحال الوضع في القبر لأنه أشرف عليه، والمختار في بلادنا الاستلقاء لأنه أيسر لخروج الروح، والأول هو السنة، كذا في الهداية.[/ar] “When a man is at the point of death, he is turned towards the qibla on his right side, by analogy with the position in which he is laid in the grave, since he has drawn near to it.

(1) There is no contradiction: ‘Allama Shami cited the text of “al-Hidaya” in support of “al-Durr al-Mukhtar”. (2) It is sunna: [ar]وذكر في المحيط: الاضطجاع للمريض أنواع: أحدها في حالة الصلاة، وهو أن يستلقي على قفاه، والثاني إذا قرب من الموت أن يضطجع على الأيمن، واختير الاستلقاء، والثالث في حالة الصلاة على الميت تضجع على قفاه معترضًا للقبلة، والرابع في اللحد يضطجع على شقه…
